Old Railway Garden Centre

As an independent family-run centre, the foundations of success and growth are built from the friendly and personal customer service offered at the centre. This is reflected by messages received on social media, emails and cards from customers giving thanks for the quality service. Over the past 12 months, Old Railway Line has raised more than £10,000 for charities including Macmillan, Garden Re-Leaf, Usk House Hospice, Wales Air Ambulance and a fighting fund for the closure-threatened local secondary school. A new children’s garden club called Little Oaks already has more than 400 members. Manager Katie Cleary was awarded third place in David Domoney’s Cultivation Street national ambassador of the year awards. Old Railway Line is a regular Garden Centre Association award-winner and has won the Worrall Cup for marketing. Its rural location means that the centre needs to reach out to customers further afield because people often drive for 30 minutes to an hour to get there. Over the past couple of years the centre has built a strong marketing foundation by restructuring its reward card, launching a new website including e-commerce, improving email marketing, regular social media updates and distributing leaflets. This year there are monthly marketing plans including footfall drivers such as bounceback offers. The events calendar grows each year with dozens planned annually under a full-time events assistant. Some of the most successful are the “Wild Wednesday” children’s event series, beer and chilli festival, ladies’ night and Garden Re-Leaf. The Christmas Preview evening attracted 500 people and more than 100% more sales than adjacent Fridays. Highly commended Carr Farm Garden Centre Sponsor Hozelock is not only Britain’s leading watering expert, it is one of the country’s most loved gardening brands and continually brings innovation to the market. This year sees another array of new products designed with convenience and high performance in mind. With its renowned watering product ranges, Hozelock continues to support garden retailers throughout the UK. SEE ALL GARDEN RETAIL AWARDS 2017 WINNERS

Reviews The Old Railway Line Garden Centre, Three Cocksmore than 6 months agoI took my son, daughter in law and a friend for afternoon tea, booking in advance. What a fabulous afternoon we had, the Fayre was amazing, fresh and beautifully presented and worth every penny. From the young man who took the call, put us through to the restaurant and the staff that served us, we could not fault the services. Envious looks from other customers in the dining room. Garden plants also high quality, so don’t miss going to this venue as it is well worth a visit.
