Garden Centres In Northamptonshire

Welcome to Whilton Locks Garden Village We are a family run, independent Garden Centre nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside just off the A5, close to Daventry. We have been open for over 13 years now and the site is vibrant and full of interesting stuff. As we are independent we are able to choose our own stock, which means that we have one-off pieces, and some more unusual items, whilst still catering for all your gardening needs. We have a team of friendly plant experts that will be able to give you advice on new planting schemes and any existing issues you may have. Our choice of great value compost is second to none and we always have someone with a smile to load your car! We stock paving slabs, gravels and other landscaping goods, outside furniture (including Hartman’s Jamie Oliver range), benches, HTA vouchers, pots, tools, sheds and indoor furniture. We have a fabulous range of affordable gifts for all occasions and the perfect greetings card to accompany it. On site we have a great pet store called Brunos, with yet more qualified staff and lots of pets including all the accessories that you may need. Our Aquatics department will be able to talk you through all aspects of fish care from installing a pond to setting up a tropical tank. In our Canalside Restaurant you will be able to get fantastic value breakfasts, hearty homemade meals, snacks or rich Douwe Egberts coffee, or Yorkshire Tea and a wedge of homemade cake. Our canalside spot makes it a smashing meeting place and our flat site makes access easy for all. NEW – find out more about our delightful Afternoon Tea for Two. We look forward to welcoming you on your visit to Whilton Locks Garden Village.

Standing on an acre of land, the oldest of Chelsea’s nurseries occupies a site used for hundreds of years as a thriving garden, says Dorothy. “Today it offers a calm and slightly quirky green oasis at the end of the bustling King’s Road in London. Pick your way through the eclectic mix of plants and pots artfully arranged around the meandering pathways, making it more like a visit to a secret garden than a walk through a garden centre. Indoor and outdoor plants fight for space with garden statuary, planters, benches and even the odd gazebo.”

“A garden shop has recently opened at Rowallane, which has got to be great news given that this is a plantsman’s garden,” says Victoria. “It was created by the Rev John Moore in the 1860s and is now run by the National Trust. It is particularly famous for its blue Himalayan poppies, the Victorian walled garden and the rock garden wood.

They’re ready to listen to reasonable offers.” The grow your own page on its website offering advice and gardening tips is worth keeping an eye on for sensible, monthly updates.

As the largest historic botanic garden in Cornwall, the privately owned Tregothnan Estate, although not strictly a garden centre, deserves a mention, says Dorothy. “Its range of plants, many of which are rare, is grown on the estate and is continuously being extended to meet the demand for locally grown, high quality British plants and there is expert advice and guidance over the phone or by email.” Visit by appointment only.
